Attack of the Vine Adds Duo Cards, Shift Variants and Three Pixar Worlds
Lorcana’s new set pairs characters on Team cards, expands Shift deckbuilding and brings Monsters, Inc., Turning Red and Up into the game.
Attack of the Vine broadens Disney Lorcana in two directions at once: cards can now feature two characters together, and three Pixar films enter the card pool with mechanics tied to their stories. The set reached general release on July 24 after prerelease events began one week earlier.
Team cards make partnership mechanical
The set introduces paired characters on Team Character cards rather than treating the pairing as artwork alone. Some can Shift onto either of the characters named on the card. Combo Shift follows that flexible route, while Duo Shift asks for both represented characters to be in play. The distinction turns the same visual idea into different deckbuilding and board-state requirements.
Three Pixar worlds receive separate identities
Monsters, Inc., Turning Red and Up make their Lorcana debuts. Monsters, Inc. cards interact with the inkwell. Turning Red uses Temporary Shift, returning transformed Red Panda cards to their player’s hand at the end of the turn. Up emphasizes locations and items, while the set’s Vinelings are leafy copies that also support Floodborn strategies.
Cinemayhem reframes the chase art
Attack of the Vine adds Cinemayhem as a treatment for Enchanted and Iconic cards, using compositions inspired by film posters. Ravensburger describes the Enchanted approach as recalling pulp-poster design from the 1950s through the 1970s. The treatment is a visual category, separate from the new gameplay terms introduced on Team and Shift cards.
Release programs spread promos across play
Prerelease boxes contained six boosters, four damage dice, a poster and one of six random promotional cards. Weekly Play promos are Morph – Little Imitator, Randall Boggs – Scary Smart and Meilin Lee – Lead Vocalist. Set Championship participants receive Rapunzel – Escaping the Tower, with a foil version for the Top 8. The Illumineer’s Trove includes eight boosters, six damage dice and a spin-dial lore counter.
