Riftbound Legacy Overhauls Booster Slots and Card Frames for 2027

Set six replaces a Common slot with Legends or Battlefields and debuts updated templating at Convergence Fest previews.

Riftbound: Legacy, the first set of 2027 for the League of Legends card game, arrives January 29, 2027 with structural changes to booster packs and card presentation.

Pack Structure Shifts Toward Signature Cards

Starting with Legacy, one Common card slot in each booster pack will instead contain either a Legend or Battlefield card at roughly equal frequency. Showcase versions of these card types remain in Overnumber slots unchanged.

Regional Identity Drives Design

The set builds around six regions—Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover/Zaun, Freljord, and Bilgewater—with cards and mechanics intended to make matches feel like clashes between regional playstyles.

Preview Timeline and Adjacent Products

Previews begin at Convergence Fest, scheduled December 13-15, 2026, and continue into January 2027. Proving Grounds 2nd Edition, a boxed starter with four new Champion decks, follows in February 2027. Nexus Night promo packs will also receive Legacy cards.

Context

Why it matters

The slot replacement increases Legend and Battlefield accessibility in draft and sealed play, while regional mechanics may reshape competitive deckbuilding.
