Content creator Brewer's Kitchen has published a Magic: The Gathering deck built around casting spells for zero mana, though the brewer concedes the finished list failed to match its original ambition.
The Anvil Engine That Almost Was
The core concept involved Semblance Anvil imprinted on a creature, reducing every creature's cost by two generic mana. Under this reduction, Ominous Traveler would become free to cast, with random two-drops from the spellbook intended to loop back into further plays.
That plan collapsed on a rules interaction: spellbook drafts can be paid with mana of any color, but the Anvil's cost reduction does not make them free. The creator acknowledged this gap between intention and execution.
From Infinite Dreams to Airbend Homage
Brewer's Kitchen also attempted to string together infinite turns beginning on the first turn. The build eventually incorporated Monk Gyatso, which redirects targeting effects away from creatures. Rather than achieving a novel combo, the creator concluded the entire construction amounted to the most convoluted possible imitation of the existing Standard Airbend combo archetype.
