Freedom Ascension brings Link Rare to Gundam Card Game

The GD05 release highlights major Mobile Suits, a new linked Unit-and-Pilot rarity, anniversary Resource cards and five LR++ variants.

Freedom Ascension [GD05] expands the GUNDAM CARD GAME card pool with prominent Mobile Suits and introduces Link Rare, a rarity built around connected Units and Pilots. The product also includes anniversary-themed SP Card EX Resources, SP versions of Pilot Cards and five LR++ card types.

Mobile Suits lead the release

The set’s lineup draws from earlier series and places powerful cards intended to form a deck’s core among its offerings. Strike Freedom Gundam, Gundam and other major Mobile Suits are identified for the release, while ν Gundam is also named among the popular suits making its debut. Strike Freedom Gundam arrives from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.

Linked cards receive a new rarity

Link Rare enters the GUNDAM CARD GAME as a new rarity centered on linked Unit and Pilot cards. These cards appear as parallel versions of cards in Freedom Ascension [GD05], using special artwork that presents memorable pairings. For collectors, the format distinguishes those parallel cards from the set’s standard card treatments.

Anniversary content broadens special cards

SP Card EX Resources debut as part of the GUNDAM CARD GAME’s first-anniversary celebration. The release also carries Pilot SP Cards: eight popular Pilot Cards are included in SP Card form. Separately, the product has five LR++ types, described by the official material as a record-high total for that card category.

A new series joins the card pool

Mobile Fighter G Gundam joins the game through this release, adding another represented series alongside the named Mobile Suit arrivals. Official product material emphasizes that popular Mobile Suits from past series are included, framing Freedom Ascension [GD05] around both recognizable characters and its new specialty rarities.
