Fusion World’s First Story Booster Introduces New Leaders and Two-Sided Foils
STORY BOOSTER 01 arrives August 21 with 85 card types, three new leaders, two returning leaders and several first-time foil treatments.
Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World is preparing its first Story Booster, a set built around new Leader cards, returning Leaders and premium treatments tied to the anime. Bandai has set STORY BOOSTER 01 [ST01] for August 21, 2026, at $5.99 per 12-card pack.
Three new leaders and two returning strategies
The 85-type set introduces three new Leaders: Son Goten, a Majin Buu Leader spanning the Majin Buu, Pure Evil and Evil forms, and Vegeta. Each begins with a named Extra Card in the Battle Area. Son Goten works with Fate Transcending Generations and Kamehameha cards; Majin Buu starts with Demonic Maze and supports Majin Evolve costs; Vegeta uses Wicked Soul Discovered and interacts with the Ki mechanic. These are distinct deck-building hooks, not simply alternate illustrations of existing Leaders.
Bandai is also bringing back two Leaders. Vegito from FB05 is presented as a Drop-focused option that can reach 40,000 power during its controller’s turn when the Drop contains at least 20 cards. Broly from FB08 supports higher-cost Saiyan Battle Cards, can force an opponent to rest an Active Mode card before attacking, and can restore an energy to Active Mode when a Broly-named Battle Card is present.
A wider parallel-card program
The product’s collector treatments are unusually broad for Fusion World. Bandai says all 36 Common card types will have Dragon Ball-themed holographic foil versions. Story Booster-exclusive Super Rare alternate arts use designs inspired by animation cels, while Rare alternate arts draw from story matchups, anime-opening shots and other scenes. Both Secret Rare cards are scheduled to receive Super Alt-Art versions.
Leader presentation is changing as well. Bandai says alternate-art Leaders will have holographic treatment on both sides for the first time in Fusion World. The set also contains 12 Energy Marker designs based on anime scenes, and each of those markers has an alternate-art version. That makes the product relevant to players who customize table presentation as well as collectors pursuing card variants.
More than a conventional booster
The combination of mechanical introductions and treatment depth is what separates ST01 from a conventional numbered booster. New Leaders create fresh deck cores; the reprints revive established strategies; and the parallel treatments expand the checklist beyond the base 85 types. Buyers should still distinguish card types from individual variants when estimating the size of a collection goal.
